Well this whole week has been all about staining. It's been a long process but things are coming together nicely. The last couple of days haven't shown any large changes but trust me, they are making progress. They have most of the cabinet and trim staining done as of yesterday with a little more detail work to do.

Trim & Cabinet Stain -- In Progress
Well by Monday after work they had done all of the staining of cabinets and trim on the upper level and was done with about 50% on our main level. It was another great surprise, and it's really coming together so nicely. :) Oh yeah... and we got our columns installed on on front porch! They look awesome!!! -- We haven't been back in a couple days so when we visit today, I will post more pictures.
Kim Enjoys Our New Porch Before Our Vacation
Kim sat on our porch on a semi-breezy evening enjoying the view, feeling the breeze on her skin, and truly wishing that we could move in sooner. We can't wait!
To help with some of the anxiety, we took a trip to Las Vegas for our 3-year anniversary. It was a much needed get-away and had a blast relaxing, sight seeing, and walking what seemed 100 miles in 2 1/2 days. :)

Trim Work and Stairs
The last couple of days have been dedicated to finishing trimwork throughout the house. In addition to that, they now have the hand rails up going to the basement, our patio steps, garage steps and today they were finishing the forms and compacting the dirt for the remainder of our sidewalk. Hopefully we'll have it poured tomorrow or friday. Also, we are supposed to have the stain phase started in the next two days and the colums on our front porch should be going up soon as well!

More Concrete!
Gutters, Trim and More!
Well,
After Thursday's eventful day, Friday was just about as busy. Our gutters were installed on our house, more trim work went up and a few more interior doors were hung. In addition, our cabinets were delivered and the upper level cabinets were put in place (not installed yet, just kinda sitting there for now). The forms for our patio, porch and the walkway from the porch to the driveway has also been put in place.
On top of all that, our railing for the staircase has been brought in and curved. I spoke with the Trim expert shortly after he put this in place and he said that the railing would be completely done by Monday/Tuesday of next week! Things are moving faster than ever and we are getting more and more excited each and every day.

We Got Doors!
Hey Everyone,
It's been a few days since our last update. The last week has pretty much consisted of drywall work. Well, that's pretty much complete now except for a couple of small areas that need patched up. Now on to the good stuff though. Today we got a ton of stuff done to our house. As you can see from the pictures below, we have our subfloor for our tile in both the master bath and our entryway. We also had the trim work delivered and installed for most of the second floor. To top that all off, our wood floors were delivered AND installed today on the main level. They even got our garage doors installed today!!! With the last few days going slow (drywall takes a while) this was a much needed surprise. We are as excited as ever and can't wait until it's complete. I can honestly say that I'm excited about unpacking 2 storage units worth of stuff...

Drywall Mud - Round 2
More drywall mud was put in place to even out the rough edges and minimize creases. Looks really good today. And, our requested built-in bookcase was cut out and taped/mudded as well. Whoo hoo! :)

Brick and Drywall
Another wonderful day today as well as some more house projects getting completed. Today we went out to the house both over lunch and after work. The brick around our house was all installed today as well as our address plaque.
As for the interior of the house, the rest of the insulation was put in and the drywall installation is underway. They have completed drywall installation in the master closet, master bathroom as well as the ceiling in most of the upstairs. We're hoping that all the drywall will be complete by the end of this week.
There is still a lot more to be done, but we are glad to see drywall going up. It makes things feel a lot bigger and one step closer to completion.

You Gotta Keep It Insulated
Sorry for the bad song reference. I couldn't help myself.
Anywho, today the insulaters were here and man they moved fast. The whole house is insulated except for a last minute change we made. We decided to have them insulate between the main level and the second floor for some added sound deadening and thermal insulation. This should be an upgrade that is well worth it in the long run. Tomorrow the remaining insulation should be in place and the drywall should start going up.

Picking Paint
On the 5th we headed back out to the house to do a little painting. I know what your thinking, and you are dead wrong. We aren't THAT impatient! We got a couple samples of paint and slopped some up on our siding and trim work to help us decide on paint colors. We think we may have a winner but we are going to take another look once the brick goes up (should be this week). We are currently looking at a grey house color with white trim. So far, it looks pretty good.
4th of July
On the 4th we decided to hang out at our new house (I know, we're nerds). Kim and I as well as her parents spent a couple of hours in the evening cleaning up the place (saw dust, wood shavings and whatnot) to help prep for insulation and drywall. Afterwards we enjoyed 180 degrees of fireworks from our neighborhood and those to the north, east and west of us. The view was awesome!

Day 44: Roof Complete & Driveway Poured
To our surprise on Wednesday, our roof shingles were being installed and our driveway and sidewalk was already poured and hardened. We've got the flattest driveway on the block, so I guess we'll be the neighbors to get a BB hoop. The roof was done by end of day, and the inspectors were coming and going throughout the day. Dustin and his friend spent the day running cables/wires throughout the house before the drywall is installed. Lots of drilling, up and down ladders, and zip ties. Final electrical inspection occurs today. If all goes well, next week they'll start insulation and drywall. :)
